At Pinnacle Flute, I work alongside flutists of all ages and stages—beginners, passionate high school musicians, curious adults, and everyone in between. Whether your goals include youth orchestra auditions, rediscovering the flute after years away, or simply exploring your creative side, lessons are personalized to help you reach your unique musical summit.

I specialize in helping students develop a beautiful flute tone and strong music-reading skills from the very beginning. High school flutists receive tailored coaching for auditions, ensemble preparation, and advanced technique. Some students choose to explore areas like music theory, piccolo, or extended techniques. Others simply want to play for joy, build confidence, and find connection through music.

Like any great adventure, artistry takes preparation, awareness, and trust in the process. My teaching is guided by what I call the Four Essentials of the Climb—a framework for helping students grow musically, technically, and personally:

-
Awareness – Developing a sensitive ear and heart for the composer’s intent, inner pulse, phrasing, and form.
-
Technique – Building physical fluency through posture, body mapping, air management, and articulation—all in service of expression.
-
Intentionality – Making conscious interpretive choices and refining personal artistic integrity.
-
Presence – Cultivating poise, professionalism, and collaboration skills—because how we show up matters.

These essentials give flutists more than just competencies; they provide a compass for the journey, helping each student grow into an expressive, thoughtful musician who plays with purpose, confidence, and heart.
As an avid hiker, I know the thrill of reaching a summit that once felt out of reach. Teaching is a shared trail—full of creative problem-solving, surprise switchbacks, and moments of pure elevation. Whether we’re refining tone quality or conquering a tricky passage, each lesson is a step forward, and we celebrate every view along the way.

Wherever you are on your musical path—stepping onto the trail for the first time or finding your footing again after time away—I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Lessons are offered both in-person (Upstate SC and Western NC) and virtually for flutists around the world. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to hear from you.
